They willingly expose gaps in their knowledge because they understand that pretending to know everything is far more dangerous than admitting they don’t.
This requires a certain amount of humility.
It also requires confidence.
Many people avoid asking simple questions because they fear looking unintelligent. Ironically, this often prevents them from discovering insights that everyone else overlooked. The smartest person in the room is frequently the one most willing to ask, “Can someone explain why we do it this way?”
